Enhanced Sound System
Your DJ will add a subwoofer to the setup, which provides more bass. More bass means a fuller and more balanced sound for the dance portion of the night. Not required, but always very nice to have.

Cordless Ambient LED Up-lighting
We place individual LED lights along the bottom of the walls, shining up towards the ceiling , giving colour to the room. We can also highlight specific elements of the room, such as pillars, backdrops, the head table, and more. They can be set to whichever colour you prefer. White, amber, and shades of blue or purple are popular choices.

If you want a super party vibe, we can discuss alternative, more intense and exciting lighting options. This could include fog, moving heads, lasers, and more. It’s too intense for most weddings, but we can gladly do it, if that’s what you’re going for.

"How much does a wedding DJ cost in Calgary?"
Professional wedding DJ companies in Calgary typically charge between $1300 - $2000 for a reception, and $200 - $500 for the ceremony. Our DJ services are flexible and reasonably priced near the lower end of that range. The exact price depends on a number of factors, including location, travel time (outside of Calgary), venue, hours, number of guests, and optional upgrades, such as those mentioned in the previous section. We want the price make sense, and we don't make you pay for services or equipment that you don't need. Of course, the price tag doesn't guarantee anything. When looking for your ideal wedding DJ, the best thing to do is check out their website, photos, videos, reviews, and speak with them directly to get a sense for the vibe. You want to be on the same page as your DJ and the company. Some beginner/amateur DJs (who have little no portfolio) may charge what seems to be a good price, but we know from experience that entrusting a mystery person with such an important role at your wedding is risky move. If you haven't been referred by a friend, and they have no information available online for you to check out, then booking them as your DJ is a roll of the dice. We have heard and witnessed countless horror stories where the DJ completely kills the vibe at a wedding: not listening to the clients, not playing requests, being rude to guests, playing terrible music, poor sound quality, too loud, too quiet, not dressed properly, abrupt/choppy mixing, leaving the party with no music for extended periods of time...we have seen and heard it all when it comes to wedding DJs. LED Dance Floor Lighting
Classy, minimal, perfect for weddings
When it's time to dance, we like to dim the room, and light up the dance floor. People feel more comfortable dancing in the dark. Nobody wants to feel like an ant under a magnifying glass. There is definitely a sweet spot when it comes to lighting.
The Yorkville LP- LED4X is our standard dance floor party light.
It contains 4 LED lights on one bar. They change colours to the beat, providing light and colour for the dance party when the room lights have been dimmed or turned off.
No lasers, no strobes, no polka dot patterns, nothing crazy or distracting. This is a wedding light, not a school dance or a rave light. (However, if you actually want your wedding to look like a rave, we can definitely make that happen.)
Clients and photographers love the LP-LED 4X because it uses a wash effect, which produces an even light source that does not ruin your photo album. Many other commonly used DJ lights cast little dots of colour on people, which looks tacky in photos.
Our party light is simple and effective. It keeps your photo album looking fresh and clean. Of course, if you have some ideas about lighting, we would be happy to discuss and customize with you.

LED Uplighting
LED uplighting is a wedding entertainment upgrade provided by professional wedding DJ companies. Uplighting can provide colour, warmth, and illumination to your wedding reception venue.
How does LED uplighting work?
We place individual LED lights along the bottom of the walls, so that they shine up to the roof. You choose the colour that suits you and your décor, and we'll set up the perfect amount of lights for your venue, usually somewhere between 4 - 10. You can illuminate the walls, or highlight specific elements of the room, such as pillars, backdrops, the head table, and more.
Is LED uplighting worth it?
That is totally up to you. Not every room can or should have LED uplighting, so this is a matter of personal choice. Some wedding venues have their own built in lighting system, like the Cornerstone Theatre in Canmore. Some rooms may look better naturally with their own decor and interior design, for example, Venue 308 in East Village Calgary. Some rooms come to life with our professional wedding uplighting services, like the ballroom at the Sheraton Eau Claire, as pictured to the left.

Wireless Battery-Powered LED Uplights
We use sleek, small, battery powered LED uplights, which we can control in unison wirelessly. We set one light to be the master, and the rest will follow. These lights can be set to one colour, programmed to change colours gradually, and there are other modes including a sound-to-light mode where they change colours to the beat. You can pick the colours that you want for your wedding. They can really take the party to the next level, if it suits the venue and the vibe you're going for.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

The DJ Setup
To save you time and help simplify your wedding planning process, we are happy to provide answers to 4 of the most commonly asked DJ setup questions below.
1. What will the DJ setup look like?
Above this text, we have provided some example photos of our DJ setups at weddings and events throughout Calgary, Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, B.C., and beyond. It is a gallery, which you can swipe through to browse.
Each of our DJs uses slightly different professional audio and mixing equipment, but we are all experts at making sure that things look and sound professional. The sound system at your wedding will be tailored to the number of guests, size of the venue, and the vibe you are going for. This will all be detailed in the customized quote which you will receive after your consultation with Mico. We are fully mobile, and we can guarantee a neat and tidy setup anywhere in the world.
2. Where should we put the DJ setup?
Such an important question! To ensure the best experience for you and your guests, we highly recommend that the DJ setup is positioned facing the dance floor, with nothing in between. The DJ needs to be able to see and hear what is happening. They need to be able to vibe with the dance floor, so they can play all the right songs at the right time, and keep people happy. Placing the DJ far away from the dance floor with tables in between may lead to a disconnected experience, which we want to avoid if possible. That being said, we understand space can be limited, and we will always do our best no matter the setup situation.
For the ceremony, we like to setup on the back right or back left corner, behind where guests are seated, with our speaker facing the bride, groom, and officiant. We want to be as discrete as possible, so that the photographer can get wonderful photos without our equipment in the way. We need to stay close to the ceremony, so that we can hear and adjust sound levels. We need full vision of the proceedings, so that we know when to play each of the requested songs.
3. How much space will the DJ setup require?
For the reception, on average, about 10 feet wide by 4 feet deep, to be safe. This includes the 2 speakers on each side of a standard folding 6 foot table. If we are adding a subwoofer, it will usually go right in the middle, underneath the table, or sometimes it will be attached to the bottom a speaker. The LED dance floor lighting may be placed behind the DJ, or in any part of the room where it can work its magic without obstructing anything.
4. Do we need to provide a table, and tablecloth? What about a coverage for outdoor ceremonies?
In most cases, we ask that the venue provides a standard 6 foot table with table cloth to hide the cords, for the reception. For the ceremony, a smaller square table will usually be just fine. Some of our DJs prefer to use their own portable DJ booth. We may also provide our own table and cloth for a small fee, if you prefer.
Some form of overhead coverage is required for outdoor ceremonies, in order to protect the DJ and their equipment from rain and sun. This could be a patio umbrella, a 10x10 canopy tent, or a personal umbrella if the DJ only needs a small amount of space. We can chat about all these details during our free consultation, and make sure everything is perfect.

An affordable option to capture your dance floor highlights
At a fraction of the cost of a full videography package, we can add a video highlight reel to your wedding DJ package. For those who don't want the full-length, all day video shoot, this could be a great option.
We are DJs first and foremost. Music is our focus and our specialty. We do however have professional videographer friends, who would be happy to put together dance floor highlight reels like the one you see above.
You can leave your phone tucked away and enjoy the present moment with your favourite people.
